Poster Boy

Written and performed by Lou Doyle

A new play in development as part of The Starting Blocks scheme at Camden People's Theatre, in partnership with North London Cares. Supported by Arts Council England.

Poster Boy is a crash course in how to make friends by calling the numbers on missing cat posters; the premiere of a (missing) documentary about rubbing shoulders with people we don’t know.  In this autobiographical solo show, Lou Doyle attempts to screen an unscreenable film about things gone amiss.

This film contains gaps, cameras, and scenes of a feline nature. Keep your phones switched on.

February 2021:
I shoot an ‘against-the-odds’ documentary.
It’s about a 24 year old (that’s me) befriending a 70 year old filmmaker (that’s Jack*), who I ethically and considerately cold-called using the number on his missing cat poster.
It was the start of a beautiful friendship.
However, due to unforeseen circumstances, I can’t show you that film. Ever.

April 2023: You’re all invited to the premiere.

Poster Boy explores the joys and dangers of rubbing shoulders with strangers and wandering into the backyards of people we don’t know. In this auto(lie)ographical solo show, Lou Doyle attempts to screen an unscreenable film about things gone amiss - and the unexpected guests that show up to fill the empty gaps.
